Ray LaMontagne

10 Jun

This past Saturday I went to the Ray LaMontagne concert with my mom out at CMAC. He was amazing live and it was one of the best concerts I’ve seen. I hadn’t heard too much of his music prior to going so I wasn’t for sure if I was going to like him, but it was great. My mama loved it too! As soon as I got home I downloaded his newest album, God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise. Here’s one of my favorites from the album. All you soulful, bluesy, country fans take a listen. What do you think? Oh how I love all types of music.

Turning Tables

2 Mar

The Thursday before Valentine’s Day, my (ex)fiancé (Gabe) told me he was having some doubts about marriage. Knowing what we had gone through in the past (break up after break up) I didn’t have a good feeling about the situation. In my heart I just knew something wasn’t right. Before freaking out, I took a deep breath and thought maybe what he was going through was normal anxiety. After all, the idea of marriage is scary right? In a way, I guess so, but at the same time, when you love someone, don’t you feel that the scariness goes away?

A couple of days passed and things weren’t getting better between Gabe and me. I felt so sick to my stomach and my mind was all over the place. Here I am, in the midst of planning a wedding, five months away, and I don’t know if I’m moving forwards or backwards with him. So to skip some of the details, and to make a long story shorter, we are no longer together. Today (two weeks later) I find myself not engaged, living alone, and trying to figure out the direction my life is headed (at age 30)! What the heck just happened? All I know is (I can’t keep up with your turning tables, under your thumb, I can’t breathe – Adele, Turning Tables.

Oh Adele, how I love you. I’ve been listening to your songs on repeat since the breakup. Songs such as Don’t You Remember, Someone Like You, Rumor Has It, and just the whole darn 21 album. It’s perfect for someone going through a heartbreak ❤
